Our Story -About Us
The Capital Area Franchise Association is a membership-based organization serving franchise professionals in the greater Washington DC metropolitan area. Our members include franchise company senior executives, master franchisees and professional service suppliers who are devoted to the franchise industry. We also have a Linkedin group and company page.
We were founded in 1989 by franchise professionals in the Mid-Atlantic region, including Warren Lee Lewis, now a franchise lawyer with Akerman LLP, and Mary Rogers and Karen Marshall, then co-owners of Computertots/Computer Explorers.
Our members are committed to supporting the growth of businesses through the franchise model, promoting executive development, and encouraging best practices in franchising through regular programs and networking.
Any entrepreneur, founder or business executive who is interested in learning about the use of the franchise model as part of a strategic growth plan is encouraged to join us on Linkedin.
We provide an interactive forum that promotes executive development and highlights best practices in franchising, while providing networking opportunities for members and their guests.
We hold luncheon meetings, generally on the 3rd Tuesday of alternating months, starting January and ending November, at locations in Virginia and Maryland that are convenient for our members.
Our bi-monthly lunch and learn meetings feature guest speakers, usually a panel format of 3-4 experts, addressing topics of particular interest to the franchise industry.
The majority of attendees at our attendees are senior franchisor executives, franchise attorneys, regulators & suppliers to the franchise industry.
Each lunch and learn typically attracts between 30-40 professionals, with the January meeting -- the address from the IFA President- and the May meeting - New Developments in Franchise Sales- attracting 40+ attendees.
The press usually covers the January meeting and the IFA President's State of Franchising Address.
Come out to CAFA and make your views known. We would love to see you.
